Scored on a 1.0–5.0 scale, with the overall as the average of the four criteria, rounded to one decimal.

Beatello's Rocket Tom set is four carbon-steel, octoban-style toms built to give metal and prog drummers that bright, cutting octoban voice for a fraction of what the big names charge. At $239 with four stands in the box, it's aimed right at players who want the look and sound of Tama Octobans or DW Rata Toms without the four-figure price tag. So I spent some real time on the kit to see where the money shows up — and where it doesn't.

Sound

Bright, aggressive, and actually musical. The carbon-steel shells give you the punchy attack and clean decay these drums are known for, and the four depths each sit at their own pitch instead of sounding like one drum in four sizes.

The stock heads do the job, but they're the first thing I'd swap. Plenty of owners say a Remo Pinstripe or Ambassador upgrade takes them from good to scary close to the high-end originals. Sound is the main reason to buy this kit, and at this price it punches above its weight.

Build, Hardware, and Setup

The drums themselves are put together well, and the shells feel solid for the money. Where the corners get cut is the hardware.

The plastic and nylon clamps on the stands are the obvious weak link, and it comes up again and again in reviews — one owner stripped a clamp while setting up, another swapped to metal mounts to stop the drums slipping. It holds up fine for most people, but go easy on the clamps and plan on the hardware being your first upgrade.

Value

At $239 for four toms and four stands, it's tough to argue with the math. A four-piece Tama Octoban set runs about 939 € at Thomann, DW's Rata Toms go for around $179 a drum, and a single Pearl Rocket Tom sits near 269 €.

So you're paying roughly a quarter of what the Tama originals cost, and that's before you count the included stands. If you want the octoban sound and can live with budget hardware, this is the value play in the category.

Verdict

The Beatello Rocket Tom set earns its spot by nailing the sound and pricing itself like a no-brainer. For metal and prog drummers who want that cutting octoban voice on a budget, it's an easy recommend — just budget for better heads and be gentle with the plastic clamps.
