Scored on a 1.0–5.0 scale, with the overall as the average of the four criteria, rounded to one decimal. Scores reflect the shared carbon-steel platform across all three configs.

The Traveler Series is Beatello's take on the ultra-portable acoustic kit, and the pitch is simple: a full-sounding set that packs flat and loads in fast. It comes in three shell-pack sizes (2-piece, 4-piece, and 5-piece) all built on the same 20 × 3.5-inch bass drum and 10 × 1.5-inch snare. Just know going in: none of them ship with stands or cymbals, so budget for hardware separately.

Sound

Carbon steel is bright and cutting, and in these skinny 1.5-inch shells it gives you a punchy, focused attack with clean overtones, not the warm, woody thing you'd get from a full-depth kit. The 20-inch bass is the real surprise: its stock head packs a built-in resonance ring, and that's what turns a shallow 3.5-inch shell into a tight, controlled thump with actual low-end weight.

Owners agree. One called the bass "an acoustic marvel" that moves serious air, and another said the snare snaps right through a mix. The one recurring gripe: the tom heads ship with mute rings, and at least one drummer cut them off to open the toms up. Factor in a head swap if you want them to really sing.

Build Quality

For shells this thin, the build feels better than the price tag. Seamless one-piece steel shells are rigid by nature, and the ball-joint mounts lock down without creeping, even when you lay into them.

The honest trade-offs: it's a shell pack only: drums, mounts, spurs, a handle, a bag, and a key, but no stands, no pedal, no cymbals. And that 10-inch snare is nowhere near a full-size 14-inch crack. Worth flagging too: the 5-piece is the only config with verified reviews right now. The 2- and 4-piece are sitting at zero, so treat them as unproven until owners weigh in.

Features

Portability is the whole point, and it nails it. The shallow shells stack down to a tiny footprint, every kit ships with a travel bag, and the integrated 10.5 mm bass mount plus ball-joint tom mounts make setup quick and flexible.

The three sizes scale cleanly: the 2-piece is a bare kick-and-snare rig for busking or apartment practice; the 4-piece adds 10- and 14-inch toms for a proper compact kit; the 5-piece throws in a 12-inch tom for extra low-mid. One thing to double-check before you buy: the product pages reuse the same "five-drum" copy on all three listings, so trust the "What's Included" list over the marketing bullets.

Value

This is where the series earns its keep. At $205, $285, and $385, you're getting a gig-ready steel shell pack with a bag and mounts for less than a single name-brand snare.

The 4-piece is the sweet spot: about $71 a drum, versus $77 for the 5-piece and $102 for the 2-piece. Going from 4-piece to 5-piece costs an extra $100 for one tom and a mount, so unless you specifically want that 12-inch, save the money. Add a stand set and Beatello's Black Devil cymbal pack and you still land well under a full acoustic kit.

Verdict

The Traveler Series does exactly what it promises: a punchy, focused kit in a radically portable package. It's not a full-depth replacement, and shell-pack-only means the real spend comes later on hardware. But for apartment practice, busking, street gigs, or a compact rehearsal rig, the 4-piece is an easy recommend, and the 2-piece is a genuinely clever minimal move if all you need is a kick and snare.
