Stop Compromising Your Sound for Portability: The Engineering Behind the 20" Pancake Kick

For years, "portable drum kit" was synonymous with "sacrifice."
If you wanted a kit that fit in your car, you had to settle for a tiny 16-inch bass drum that sounded more like a cardboard box than a kick drum. It felt like playing a toy.

Gigging drummers faced a tough choice: Break your back hauling a full-size kit, or show up to the gig with a weak, thin sound.

At Beatello, we decided to break the cycle. We asked: Can we make a drum set that packs flat but sounds huge?
The answer is the 20" Bass Busking Compact Kit.

The Secret Sauce: The 3.5-Inch "Pancake" Shell

The centerpiece of this revolution is the bass drum.
Most compact kits shrink the diameter (width) to save space. We shrank the depth.

We engineered a revolutionary 3.5-inch thick bass drum shell.
It looks almost impossibly thin—like a frame drum—but it behaves like a cannon. By keeping the full 20-inch diameter, we maintained the surface area needed to push a massive amount of air.

The Physics: Why Shallow Shells Work

You might be thinking: "But don't deep drums sound bigger?" Not necessarily.
Here is the acoustic science behind our design:

Fast Attack :
Because the shell is shallow, the air inside travels from the batter head to the resonant head instantly. This creates a lightning-fast response. The moment you stomp the pedal, you get a punchy, articulate sound.

Deep Resonance :
Low-end frequencies come from the head size, not just the depth. A 20-inch head naturally vibrates at a lower pitch than a 16-inch head. So, even though it's thin, it still produces that satisfying, chest-thumping "boom."

The result: A kick drum that is punchy enough for Funk, deep enough for Rock, and portable enough for the subway.

Gig Ready: Not Just for Practice

Let’s be clear: This is not a "practice pad kit." It is a legitimate musical instrument.
Whether you are busking unplugged on a street corner or mic'd up at a local club, the Beatello Busking Kit holds its own.

Nesting Design: The toms and snare pack inside the bass drum shell.

Pro Hardware: Sturdy spurs and lugs ensure it doesn't wobble on stage.

Stop Compromising.
You can have your portability and your tone too.
